The Fungus Among Us...

IS GONE! We had our annual termite inspection a few weeks ago and found out we have some "friends" living in our crawl space. I guess I wouldn't classify them as friends...more like FIENDS! We have a very serious mold issue under our house. Serious enough for 3 different inspectors to say, "I can't believe you all haven't been sick" Brandon has respiratory issues anyway, so I guess I'm surprised he hasn't been sick! Needless to say, we jumped right on getting some opinions and estimates. Thankfully, well kind of, our sump pump in the crawl space wasn't working properly, and our home owners insurance covered most of the mold removal and repairs. We'll have to pay some out of pocket since there's a $5,000 limit on the insurance, but every little bit helped. This area has been in a severe drought this year so I'm surprised we have moisture issues, but oh well. We spent the day in Raleigh so the mold guy could remove it all, lay down a moisture barrier, and then paint over the joist as well as install a fan to keep the moisture out. We all had a fun time in Raleigh and the boys were total angels...as usual. They even ate their lunch in the stroller in the Men's Warehouse while Eric was getting all kinds of new clothes. We're home now, getting ready to dive into some steaks and are looking forward to chilling on the couch after the munchkins are in bed.
